What our visitors said about us at Woodlands

"Just wanted to say it was nice to meet you and Dave last week and thanks very much for looking after me, the kids and Angela so well."
Kind regards Barbara Shally August 2009

"Just a quick note to say thank you for making us feel so welcome last week on our holiday. We really enjoyed our stay, the breakfasts were delicious every day, and you kept the room spotlessly clean. You really were lovely hosts and we were particularly grateful after a long day in the sun for the refridgerated coke, ice bucket and cold chocolate!!! Thanks once again."
Kind regards Nikki and Justin Coombes

"Just wanted to thank you for helping to make our weekend break very enjoyable. We really enjoyed our stay with you, your "Lodge" is really lovely, the rooms were excellent, and the breakfasts very good. You made us very welcome and we would not hesitate to stay with you again, if we come down to Dorset in the future."
Thanks again Christine & Alan Collen July 2009

"We have really enjoyed our stay at your fantastic holiday park. Thank you for a great warm welcome and your hospitality all the best for the future.

"Just a quick note to say thanks for an enjoyable stay (Thurs 28.5.09 - Sat 30.5.09). The hospitality was fantastic, the campsite beautiful, the toilets/showers spotless, and all reasonably priced. It was so nice to wake up to birdsong, notably the cuckoo and woodpecker (!) and to watch the squirrels. Both the pubs in the village, Wool, are a 30 minute stroll away and serve great food and local ales."

"Stayed just one night in the family 4 bed room for B&B at Woodlands. We had an excellent break, room was immaculate, tastefully funished and very roomy. the breakfast was fantastic and the best poached eggs I have ever had in a hotel/B&B. Thank you for a lovely welcome and i hope to visit again in the future. Thanks once again"

"Just returned from our second visit to Woodlands, and found the new owners to be as friendly and helpful as the old ones. Shop on site was stocked with essentials and the toilet block was kept clean. Showers were great. Handy fridge, freezer, washer and drier for use of campers. Pitches nice and level set amongst trees.Local pub the Black Bear, 1.5 miles away, serves good food. Weymouth, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door all close by for visiting by car. Enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this site."

"We have just returned from a two night visit to this site. Firstly the owners are very friendly and helpful from the time of booking to your time on site. They always had a word to say which was very nice. There is a small shop on site that sells the basics. It opens for long periods of times. Although not always manned a ring of the bell brings someone to the shop. The site itself is largely flat and many of the pitches are under tress. There are no electric hooks up or chemicals disposal ponts. This meant that there were only tents on site. The toilet block was clean. However there were four of us in our or party and no one could ever get hot water either from the showers or the washing up station. It was warm but not hot. The other slightly strange thing was that the lights seemed to be on a timer. On a cloudy day the lights went of and it was quite dark to try and wash up.On the whole I thought the site was well placed for the local surrounding. Nice a peaceful and would stay again. You can hire bikes if you wish to.I know the owners are new to the site and have plans for its improvements and I would like to return to see how they do."

"This was a very nice site. Owners really nice, friendly and welcoming. The weather had been really bad and a lot of the pitches were soaking, but they showed us round and suggested where we could pitch that would stay reasonably dry. The owners even came round in the morning to make sure you were still dry and ok. Site was busy when we arrived but we had plenty space. Toilets/showers and dishwashing were very clean considering the amount of kids that were running in and out of them playing. There is no play area for the kids. Showers require 20p but don't last very long you need about 40p to get a decent amount of time. The only complaint I have is that there is a ramp at the entrance, which runs at an angle, and every time we went out/in the bottom of the car got thumped, didn't matter how easy you took it. The pub is about a mile away. Wareham town centre has plenty to offer."

"Been meaning to make sure I added my comments since our trip back in May/June Half term. Previous comments had led us to our choice of Woodlands & we weren't dissapointed. Was a bit worried that the Kids might kick up too much for this quiet site but as we came at the other end of the bank holiday there was plenty of space & the kids were well behaved. The site was ideal for us, great toilets, fridges, freezers, great owners & good location for trips to the beach. The rather water logged pitches dried up pretty quickly but I would keep an eye on the weather if planning another trip. Lots going for it so we would definitely use this site again. Ideal if you need a get away from it type of site. Was a bit worried my three year old kicking his ball around would be frowned upon, but as I mentioned site very quiet at that point in the week & I think a certain ammount of tolerance is allowed. Not really a site to take loads of friends. We enjoyed our 3 nights here."

"Our first trip of 2008 and of course Woodlands to start the year, a new owner and now B&B at the house. The site was virtualy empty when we arrived on Sat and on Sunday we had the whole site to ourselves.
The new owners are really nice and plan to keep Woodlands as it is. The site speaks for itself, quiet, great facilities and close to all the delights of the purbecks.."

"We visited the site in May half term and as teachers (and boring farts) were looking to get away from children! When we arrived, the man was extremely friendly and suggested a pitch for us away from the families on the site. Saying that, the site was very quiet and the families staying on the site were very friendly.
The weather was pretty awful but this did not spoil the holiday. We spoke to the owner every morning when he cleaned the toilets and he was welcoming. The toilets were very clean (cleaned throughout every morning) even though everyone was treading mud everywhere! The showers were 20p and exactly the right temperature. 40p would get you a decent shower and scrub. Urinals even had their own flush. Very pleasant sinks and toilets.
I was unlucky enough to get my car stuck in the field because of the mud, but another person on the site came over and helped us out which was extremely kind. It was going to happen with the amount of rain we had and the owners tried their hardest to pump out the water.
Our pitch was very flat and there was no stones. On our final day there was a young imbecile who thought he was the next David Beckham, playing football and 'doing' keepy ups around our tent. If we were staying longer we would have mentioned this to the owners who had made us feel that if were unhappy with anything like this, they would stop it for us. As it was our final morning though, it didn't bother us too much.
We read the reviews on here as we had a few choices of where to stay and it was the comments on here that helped us make our decision. If you are looking for a quiet, out of the way campsite, this is definitely the place for you.
You may need a tom tom to find it. We printed the directions from AA route finder, ignore the final 3 directions saying left, left, right. Follow signs to Lulworth Cove and turn right at Bindon Lane and it is straight down there on the left. Tucked away in the country. We also didn't have any cash to pay on arrival so were able to pay a couple of days later when we had withdrawn some.
Overall an extremely pleasant stay and I can't recommend the site and it's owners highly enough"

"Took ourselves away for bank holiday weekend for our first trip camping. Chose this site for it's proximity to our home town, with 4 kids, bound to forget something. Found the site very easily. When we enquired about a pitch they were fully booked but offered to phone us back if had any cancellations. Thought this was just to keep us happy but got a phone call the next day to say that they had a pitch for us. Very friendly and helpful on arrival, new owners since December so very keen to help in any way possible. Facilities were very good and clean, shop open and very reasonably priced. Just a shame that the weather wasn't too good and our Argos Tent wasn't up to the job. Definitely visit again."
